 IMPORTANT UPDATE: Hayrides
Effective for 2024, we will unfortunately no longer offer hayrides as part of our farm activities. The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture has reclassified hayrides as an amusement ride, which requires hayride vehicles and wagons/trailers to be registered and treated as such. We have always strived to conduct any activity here at the barn as safely as possible and hope to be able to offer hayrides in the future, but at this time we do not have excess time and funds to spend on meeting all of the requirements to become "qualified" to inspect our equipment per the new amusement ride standards. Though we are disappointed in having to make this change, we look forward to providing our many other fun activities and events here at the barn!

The Village at Penn State Assisted & Independent Living - Resident Visit State College, PA In total we traveled 144 miles to special destinations in 2023! In 2023, we opened our barn for a Spring Open Barn and Fall Open Barn-both free events! We also had two MINI Library Miniature Horse Read-Alongs-also free events!
We can't wait for you to join us in 2024 for our Spring and/or Fall Open Barn events and/or our MINI Library events! These events will always be free and open to the public! Spring Open Barn - Carnival Day In May, we had our Spring Open Barn with a carnival theme! Guests needed to collect all the different hole punch shapes in their punch cards by completing all the fun free activities... once completed, they could present their card for a prize! Fall Open Barn - Fall Fun Weekend Day 2 In October, we had our Fall Fun Weekend... on Friday evening, we had a paid event (GLOW Night at the Barn) and on Saturday, we had our Fall Open Barn with pony rides, photos, hayrides, and more! MINI Library Miniature Horse Read-Alongs We had two free read-alongs in 2023 and we were able to build our collection up to 60+ books. We hope to continue to grow the MINI Library with more read-alongs and fun in 2024! For our 2023 read-alongs, we read two books with our Miniature Horses-Bramble & Maggie by Jessie Haas and A Colt Named Mischief by Sandy Rabinowitz. We're ready to jump into more great books with you next summer here at the barn! |
